Honduras 2009

In Honduras, a small team of students, including myself, worked in a city that draws tourists with its ancient Mayan ruins. In Copan Ruinas there is a large dog and cat population and little veterinary care.  We will worked alongside a veterinarian that is from the USA, but who had been in Copan Ruinas for almost one year, teaching local people how to better care for their animals. The goals for our trip were: 1) provide veterinary care to both large and small animals, and 2) assess the attitude of the local population toward neutering dogs and cats, and 3) determine the feasibility of local Hondurans successfully building a small business by offering more advanced veterinary services.

The pictures below gives an idea of what we saw, did, and experienced.
